Title

Created in 2021, this painting came to life over several meticulous sessions. Working with oils can be a labor of love, as they require both patience and dedication during the preparation and clean-up stages. And let's not forget the seemingly endless wait for the masterpiece to dry...

The subject of the painting: a stunning bouquet of asters, a thoughtful gift from a cherished friend, accompanied by the versatile sedum taken from my very own garden. Sedum is a fantastic addition to any bouquet, acting as a filler that not only enhances the arrangement but also evolves over time, its colours and textures shifting gracefully as the days pass.

In this work of art, I aimed to capture the essence of the blossoming friendship represented by the asters and the ever-evolving beauty of the sedum. Together, these flowers symbolise the strength and adaptability that we all strive to embody in our lives.

With each stroke of the brush, I carefully chronicled the subtle changes in the sedum as well as the delicate petals of the asters, memorialising this special moment shared between friends. The painting serves as a reminder that life is a continuous journey, filled with growth, transformation, and the unwavering support of those who truly care for us.

Now, when I look at this piece, I am filled with gratitude for the friendship that inspired it, and for the mesmerising dance of nature that unfolds before our eyes, if we only take the time to observe and appreciate it. This painting will forever hold a special place in my heart, as a testament to the power of connection and the remarkable beauty that can be found in the simplest of things.
