In the waning days of summer 2022, inspired by the creative energy and camaraderie of Worcestershire Open Studios, I embarked on a new artistic journey. With a desire for a simpler composition and a lighter, dreamier atmosphere, I turned my attention to one of my favourite subjects: farm sunflowers. These magnificent blooms, symbols of loyalty and unwavering devotion, never fail to greet us with a warm, radiant smile.
As I set out to capture the essence of these sun-kissed flowers, I found myself immersed in a world of vibrant colour and natural beauty. The soft, golden hues of the sunflowers contrasted with the ethereal, muted tones of the background, creating a harmonious balance between the bold and the delicate. The dreamy backdrop served to amplify the sunflowers' inherent allure, elevating their simple, rustic charm into something truly magical.
The painting process itself became a meditative and joyful experience, as I allowed the sunflowers' enchanting presence to guide my brushstrokes.
