Tulips on the Dining Table

There's something truly enchanting about the early morning light as it pours into my moody dining room, transforming the space with its crisp, icy brightness. On that chilly February morning when I first began this painting, I was captivated by the way the harsh light played with the colours and textures around the room, guiding me in my choice of colour palette.

The mahogany table, which sits proudly at the heart of the dining room, holds a special place in my heart. It was a pandemic bargain that my other half and I discovered, and they meticulously restored it to its former glory. The rich, warm hues of the wood contrast beautifully with the cool morning light, creating a striking focal point that anchors the composition.

To the right, one of my own paintings adorns the wall, adding a touch of personal history and artistic expression to the space. The dining room itself has become a muse of sorts, providing a dark yet warm backdrop that has inspired several other paintings.
